Telephonic Briefing: E-Verify Employment Verification Schemes

Mandatory use of a federal database known as E-Verify (until recently known as Basic Pilot) to verify the employment eligibility of all workers is at the heart of a number of federal and state proposals. This IPC telephonic briefing has experts examining the pitfalls of such a massive increase in the use of this federal experimental program and what it would mean for employers, native-born, naturalized, immigrant and undocumented workers. Immigrant New York Police Department Officer Honored Posthumously

The New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association posthumously presented the New York Immigrant Achievement Award to Timoshenko at a ceremony in New York City on Thursday, December 13, 2007. At that ceremony, the American Immigration Law Foundation's Immigration Policy Center also released a report on immigrants as public safety officers: "On the Beat: New Roles and Challenges for Immigrant Police and Firefighters."
